March Liver Cleanse

This delicious and healing cleanse should be done during the month of March to purge toxins from the liver and digestive tract.

First thing in the morning juice one inch cube of fresh ginger, 2 apples and one lemon.

Add 3 tablespoons of cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of cayenne pepper

Blend in blender on high for 30 seconds and drink while frothy.

do this for 5 days (Monday – Friday, off on weekends) for 3 weeks during the month of March

While cleansing eat mostly fresh raw foods and few processed foods.  Avoid fried foods.  Lots of fruit, and veggies, nuts and whole grains.

If you’re not a vegetarian, good quality meats are fine.  Lot’s of fresh salads, sprouts, and plenty of apples, fresh lemonade with honey.

I’ll be sharing recipes each week that aid in cleanse.  Here’s the first:
Liver Cleanse Chili:

5 fresh tomatoes (diced)

5 cloves of garlic (smashed)

1 red onion (diced)

1 to 3 fresh hot chili peppers (choose what looks the freshest at you local market and add to taste. If you like it spicy then chop the chiles for more mild leave them whole and just pierce them with a knife)

3 cans of beans of your choice (I like black, pinto & kidney)

Large bunch of cilantro

Large bunch of spinach

One pound ground meat of your choice (optional)

Saute garlic, chilies and onions in 3 to 4 tablespoons of olive and 1 teaspoon soy sauce until onions become transparent.

Add tomatoes, meat, beans and salt, pepper and cayenne pepper to taste and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes.

Add cilantro and spinach the last 5 mins.  Turn off heat enjoy!!
