One in three girls will be sexually abused before their 12thbirthday and one in five boys. Most experts believe that these statistics are not accurate because so many cases of child molestation go unreported each year. Some of the many ways the legacy of sexual abuse shows up in adulthood include: somatic illnesses and chronic pain, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, lack of boundaries, relationships and intimacy issues, sexual compulsion and acting out, prostitution, sleep and eating disorders including compulsive eating, anorexia and bulimia, inability to get paid in accordance with one’s education and skill level, feelings of worthlessness and low self esteem, uncontrolled anger and rage, self medicating with drugs and/or alcohol, a victim mentality, feelings of disconnect and isolation, self-mutilation and thoughts or attempts of suicide. Being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse I have struggled with many of these symptoms myself and I’ll share about that a little later…

Right now I want you to know that today my life is good. I’m doing work that I love and that really makes a difference in people’s lives. I sit on the board of UNITY San Francisco, a spiritual organization that serves the San Francisco and world community. I live with my life partner and our 2 cats in a sun-filled apartment with a beautiful view of San Francisco. I love my partner and feel that love flowing back to me everyday. I love my life and I find myself saying that out loud often. However, it wasn’t always like this. In my late twenties, before I’d recovered the memories of sexual abuse my blossoming show business career was sabotaged by somatic illness, anxiety and rage that I directed toward myself and those that got too close. This led to a search for answers and during a weekend seminar with John Bradshaw the memories of childhood sexual abuse began to surface.
==> That was the beginning of a life-long healing journey that has given me the tools and inner resources that I’ve been able to share with my students, clients, family and friends to help them in their own healing. One of the blessings of this journey has been the amazing support of friends, clients and colleagues that share a similar past. Even understanding the law of attraction I’m still surprised when a new friend, or client that I feel a particular connection with shares that sexual abuse is also part of their past. This is what has led me to come out the closet today and reach out to this specific group. During my Hero’s Journey Playshop recently I shared that sexual abuse was part of my past inspiring a number of participants to open up and share their stories with me afterward. My mentors and coaches have also been urging me to reach out this group and share what I’ve learned through my healing journey and to create a support network and it seems NOW IS THE TIME.
Please join me for a FREE Teleseminar: Healing Childhood Sexual Abuse and Trauma, this coming Tuesday, May 29 at 6:30PM PDT. You don’t have to know whether or not you’re part of this group to participate in this call. If you have any of the symptoms listed above this call will give you tools to start healing. Sexual abuse can be so traumatic that many people block the memory for years. As I said, I didn’t recover my memories until my early thirties. The truth is you don’t have to actually have experienced sexual abuse to be suffering from the effects. If a parent or grandparent was sexually abused the effects are passed on from generation to generation. For those of you who know this is part of your past but feel you have already done your work around this and don’t want to go back into it, this call is not about going back; it’s about moving forward. Healing from childhood sexual abuse is a life long process and sharing your experience, strength and hope is part of your healing, and it will help others on the call so please, please join us. IT’S FREE!
Feel free to forward this email to anyone who might benefit from this call. If you can’t make the call because it conflicts with your schedule, no worries, by signing up, you will receive a recording of the call that you can listen to at your convenience and get all the experience, strength, hope and healing that we’ll be sharing.
